In Smart Center

From smart thermostats to smart locks, a Brinks Home Security™ system can help you automate your home.

Smart homes are all the rage, and it’s easier than you might think to get one. If you have a Brinks Home Security™ system, it can double as a smart home hub. By adding compatible smart devices, you can control your lights, thermostat, front door lock, and more, either remotely or by voice. You can also instruct your home to do some things automatically, like turn on the lights when you get home.

Your Brinks Home system can serve as a smart home hub regardless of which security system offering you choose. Brinks Home’s Smart Security system, for example, gives you a vast number of home automation options. That’s because you can add virtually any Z-Wave home automation device. You control the system via a peel-and-stick touchscreen hub, and it’s compatible with both Google Home and Alexa, so you can also talk to it from a smart speaker.

Z-Wave is a leading provider of smart home devices, with about 3,000 products on the market. Some popular devices are offered through the Brinks Home website, but you’re not limited to those; if it’s Z-Wave compatible, you can probably install it. For example, you can add a Z-Wave Smart Switch plug-in lamp dimmer, a Z-Wave In-Wall Dimmer or a smart garage door opener.

You can make your home smart in other ways, too. The Brinks Home FireFighter device monitors all the existing smoke alarms in your home and notifies the Brinks Home alarm response center if one goes off. The IQ Wireless Garage Door Tilt Sensor keeps tabs on whether the garage door is open or closed.

If you prefer a home security option that’s built around Google’s family of home automation products, Brinks Home also offers Nest Secure, which you can control from Nest Guard, the brains of the system, or any Google Home smart speaker. Nest Secure lets you easily add Google Nest smart home accessories, including a smart thermostat and a smart front door lock. Most devices can be installed in a matter of minutes if you’re even a little bit handy.

While most of these smart home devices are easy to install, you don’t have to do it yourself. And you might prefer not to in some cases. A smart thermostat, for example, requires removing the existing thermostat and connecting the new one to the low-voltage wiring in your wall. If you want to have a professional install your smart home devices, Brinks Home can connect you with a professional installer, or you can find a Nest Pro on the Nest website.

By adding home automation devices to a Brinks Home security system, you can get the best of both worlds — a home that’s smart and secure.
